Egg Carton Recycled Easter Crafts

After you boil all your Easter eggs what do you do with the egg carton? The possibilities are endless! I am going to show you a few ideas for recycled and eco-friendly Easter crafts, including a flower, a bunny rabbit, a cat, and a caterpillar.
After you boil all your Easter eggs what do you do with the egg carton Egg Carton Recycled Easter Crafts

Flower

Cut out one of the cups from the egg carton. Every egg carton has a slightly different shape but you should get a flower-like shape after cutting. You may have to cut it a bit more to form the petals.

Use a sharp instrument to poke two holes at the bottom of the flower. Then you will thread a chenille stem through one hole and back out the other hole.

Twist the two ends together to form the stem.

My daughter painted the flower and glued a pom pom in the middle. This is the finished product:

Caterpillar

Cut the egg carton down the middle lengthwise to make this caterpillar. You can add more cups to make it longer. Let your kids have fun painting and decorating it!

Cat

For the cat you will need two cups - one for the head and one for the body/legs. Make sure to cut the legs to be the same length otherwise it won't stand.

For the head you use another cup and you may have to cut and shape the ears.

Glue or staple the head and legs together.

Let your child paint the cat, add eyes, whiskers, tail, and any other accessories.

Rabbit

The rabbit is the same as the cat except the ears are longer.

Paint it, add eyes, whiskers, a pom pom tail and anything else your child wants!

Free Easter Lacing Cards

FREE printable Easter lacing cards for toddlers and preschoolers to practice fine motor sk Free Easter Lacing Cards

Lacing is a great activity for young children to help develop fine motor skills, concentration, and hand-eye coordination. Try it out with these 3 Easter themed lacing cards!

Print the cards out, then laminate them and cut out the picture along the dashed lines. (If you don't have a laminator you could glue them to a thin cardboard like a cereal box). Then use a hole puncher to punch holes where indicated. For young children I suggest starting with the egg or the chick as those are easier. For older children you can add challenge by punching extra holes in between the holes that are already there.

Give your child a shoe lace, or a piece of yarn that is reinforced by tape at the end. Tip: to make it easier you can add a bigger piece of tape at the end, as big as 1 or 2 inches to form the lacing "needle". Enjoy!

The next fabulous blogger in my guest post series is Deborah from Free Easter Basket Matching Game

I’m so excited to be guest posting for Totschooling today. Educating my little ones is something I take rather seriously, and Totschooling is a great blog that gathers fabulous resources for parents who work on educating their toddlers and preschoolers. Today, I am sharing a Math activity geared for three to five year olds. We had a lot of fun with it, and I hope you do too.

Easter Basket Matching – One to One Correlation Math Activity

Who doesn’t love to go Easter egg hunting? I know my children love to, so I thought I’d make a Math card game based on an Easter egg hunt. The game is based on the classic card game war, but with a slight twist.

Setup:
Print out the cards here: Easter Matching Game (Cardstock is best, it makes them easier to shuffle and easier for little hands to handle.)

Shuffle the cards and deal them all out.

Play:
The youngest player goes first. Everyone turns over their top card and the player examines the cards to see if there is a match. If there is a match, that player keeps the match and has another turn. Any cards that aren't part of a match are discarded. Continue until there is a round with no matches.

Move to the next player. They play the same as the first player, with everyone turning over their top card and the player examining them to see if there is a match. This player keeps all matches and discards any non-matching cards. This player keeps playing until there is a round with no matches.

When any player runs out of cards, shuffle the discard pile and re-deal the cards to the players.

Continue the game until every card has been matched.

This game is really helpful for little ones who are working on one-to-one correlation and also very helpful for number recognition. They also really like it because they can win. My preschooler considers the game a 'win' whenever she gets a match.

Deborah is the Mommy behind Mommy Crusader and Her Knights and Ladies. The name of her website was chosen because her children are always playing princess and knight, and sometimes being a mommy feels like a crusade. She has five children, 10 and under, and one awesome and supportive husband. With her bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communication, she writes about parenting tips and fun kid’s activities and crafts with a focus on preschool learning activities. Easter Picture & Word Tracing Printables

My daughter has really been intro tracing letters lately, so to encourage her interest, I created a set of Easter themed tracing printables. This is a fun way to practice handwriting and fine motor skills while getting ready for Easter. Trace the word, then trace the picture and color it in!

This Free Easter Tracing printable set includes 4 different designs: a rabbit, an egg, a basket and a cross, in both upper case and lower case letters.

This is a no-prep activity - just print and give to your child. However, if you laminate the sheets or put them in page protectors, they can be wiped and reused over and over again.

Easter Egg Hunt Alphabet Game & Free Printable

Egg hunts are one of our favorite things to do around Easter. To add extra educational value, I came up with this printable activity where children can practice letter recognition and handwriting skills while hunting for eggs.

Egg hunts are one of our favorite things to do around Easter Easter Egg Hunt Alphabet Game & Free Printable

This FREE printable Easter alphabet game can be played in different ways depending on your child's age and skill level.

1. Using a permanent marker, write each letter of the alphabet on 26 plastic eggs. Hide them outside or around the house or classroom. Each time an egg is found, the child reads the letter that is written on the egg. Then the child finds the matching letter on the printable and either traces the letter, places a dot with a dot marker, or covers the letter with a token. Repeat until all eggs are found!

2. Instead of a traditional egg hunt, children can simply use the printable to trace all the letters or mark them with a dot marker while reading them aloud.

3. The printable can also be used with smaller eggs or candy. Write the alphabet on each piece and have the child place the pieces directly on the sheet over the matching letters.

If you have any other ideas on how to play, leave a comment!

This post contains affiliate links for your convenience.

This FREE Easter printable consists of 12 bunny paw prints, with 3 toes on each paw. The object of the activity is for the child to match the number, number word, and dot representation to the correct paw print. Each paw print has a certain number of bunnies. The child will count the bunnies and then match the correct toes on the paw.

You can add to your Easter counting fun with these Free Printable Easter Egg counting and Math activities. You can also find some Easter counting Play Dough mats inside this 59 printable pack here to add more chances for number recognition practice!

Instructions for use:

Print and laminate the toes (the ovals with the dotted lines). Add Velcro dots to the back of the toes and the top of the paws to help them stick better.

Ways to play:
  1. Paws can be cut out individually and laminated to create cards for matching.
  2. Or they can be added to a file folder to create a file folder matching activity. You can put one on each page on the inside and then one on the back of the folder to include all three pages on the file folder.

Expanded uses for the printable:

  • Print and laminate the paws themselves to use as counting cards. The child can count the number of bunnies on each paw and place them in numerical order.
  • Cut out and laminate the paw prints to the ground to create a path for the kids to follow in a fun game of follow the numbers.
