Hot Chocolate Sight Words Find & Trace

Pre-K and kindergarten kids will love this winter themed sight word game. Students will pick a random card from the ‘hot chocolate sight word cards’ and read the word on the card. They will then find it on their recording sheet, trace and color it. Kids in kindergarten need a lot of sight word reading activities and exposure to help develop their reading fluency. These games are a great way to do that!

To prepare:

Print as many recording sheets you need for the set of students in your class. There are two sets of recording sheets (easy and medium) to help you differentiate like a pro! I like to laminate the Hot Chocolate Sight Word cards for repeated use. Use a small basket to place the sight word cards in. These two games can easily be differentiated depending on your students’ reading levels.

Need some fun sight word worksheets? To begin, for the first game instruct the students that they will choose one card from the basket and read the sight word on the card. They will then find the same sight word on their recording sheet and trace it. They return this card to the basket and they keep going until all words have been traced and colored!

This is a great way to reinforce reading and writing sight words. As an added element of fun, you can have the kids race to see who gets all their sight word marshmallows traced and colored first! They can also get fun colored marshmallow treats!
