I recommend that you laminate this activity and use velcro dots for the children's faces. The squares on the right side of the page can be used to store the faces when they are not on the child's body.

When starting this activity, talk about different feelings that you can have and let your child try to name the feelings that each face is expressing.

For daily use, the laminated mat can be hung on a wall and children can change the facial expression as their own mood changes.

(Note: This is a large file due to the photographs, so it may not fully load on your screen, or it may take a long time. It is best to save the file to your computer.)

My Body Systems Science Booklet

Introduce children to the human body systems with this free printable book. Makes a great science lesson as well as reading activity for preschool and kindergarten.

Pin Me!
Introduce children to the human body systems with this free printable book My Body Systems Science Booklet

This free printable science booklet includes the sight word "my" and is great for emergent readers. It introduces children to the main body systems while using simple terminology that they can relate to: "My muscles", "My stomach", "My bones", "My brain", "My lungs", "My heart".

If you would like to mention the name of the body system, you can verbally say it after reading each phrase. For example, "My bones... are part of the skeletal system" or "My lungs... are part of the respiratory system", etc.

This activity comes in two versions - a male and a female body. Kids can color in each picture to make it more personal. Read the following directions on how to put the book together:

Directions
  • Print the pages (files can be downloaded further down in this post)
  • Cut all pages in half down the middle
  • Place pages in order according to page numbers
  • Staple along the left edge to create a binding

All About Me Posters - Dinosaur themed

These dinosaur themed back to school all about me posters will be a hit with your kindergarten and first grade students. Posters include themes such as summer vacation, all about me, all about my birthday, all about my favorite book and all about our class. These will work well with a dinosaur themed classroom or simply for a back to school about me activity.

will be a hit with your kindergarten and first grade students All About Me Posters - Dinosaur themed

Print as many posters as needed for your students (1 each). Choose the poster sets you would like to work on and print those. It’s recommended that you do one at a time so that the kids can understand and fill the prompts on each poster.

All About Me Posters

These posters are so simple to use and you could hang them to decorate your class after the kids are done filling them out! For the all about me posters – these are great to do during back to school morning work or as a class activity for the first week of school. Get to know your students in a fun way! Have the kids fill them out, decorate and color their posters, then hand them back to you so you could hang them in your class.

The All About My Favorite Book poster can be used over and over again year round. I find that every time the class reads a book each month or every week – the kids can show what they’ve learned about this book by filling their own personal ‘All About My Favorite Book’ poster.

You could also do the All About My Class and All About My Summer Vacation posters during back to school time. The kids can get to know each other in a fun and engaging way!
