To prepare:

- Printer
- Dry erase markers (optional)
- Hole punchers (probably 5-6 of them if more than a few students in the group)
Apple Ten Frames Punch Cards
To guide the students before you begin this activity – it would be a great idea to show them how to use a hole puncher. If they’ve never done an activity where they used a hole puncher – it might be hard for them. So what I usually do is show them how to hold the hole puncher and press to make a ‘hole’ in the paper.
There are two ways you could use these ten frame activity cards. You could print them out and use them with standard A4 paper and have the kids color the numbers in (to identify the number on the ten frame) then have them count their numbers and hole punch their cards individually. Or you could laminate them and have the kids use dry erase pens on them! This will give you the option of re-using them and not having to waste paper by printing too much. You can print them out in B&W and you will still be able to see the ten frame on the apple! This will totally save colored ink as well.
